Pound. Quid. A thick coin. Never won a thing?
Could buy a poke of chips, a shower mat?
It buys more than that. Come up North in Spring,
when the snowdrops rule in the “Land of Cat”.
A village hall, perfect in timeless wood
accordion jigs, harmonica blues.
Pensioners struggled with mountains of food
(whilst hearing “The Shooting of Dan McGrew!”)
If you could witness these vibrant dances
you’d know the value of your “wasted” pound.
Measure the worth of lottery chances
as generations laugh and whirl around.
You buy, we win. We buy, you win. Lotto.
Release the numbers! Resin up the bow!
