Sandy comments - 'This is the first in a series of paintings of New Lanark in which my intention is to focus on the visual quailties of the village, often overlooked next to its impressive history. Set in the narrow gorge of the River Clyde the cluster of mills, workers houses, church, school and other buildings have a character all their own, recognizable the world over. It is this vibrant environment set in its lush river valley that the I wish to express.'
