Sonny's Dream |
|
|
by Haggerdash This track is taken from the group's latest CD 'Is It Very Far To Heidelberg From Here'. It is the second track on the CD and also features a 'guest' appearance by the sound engineer John Weatherby playing the 5-string banjo. Sonny's Dream was written by Ron Hynes but was made popular through the singing of Hamish Imlach. That is where Haggerdash learned it from originally. It is a cracking song that has been recorded many times by singers such as Christy Moore, Stan Rogers and Mary Black as well as Haggerdash. The title track of the CD, 'Is It very Far To Heidelberg From Here', is a song inspired by the late Iain Mackintosh during a conversation with Billy. Most of the verses come from stories told to Billy by Iain of his days travelling through Germany. Haggerdash were delighted that Iain got much pleasure from the album before his death in 2006. The track lasts for just under 6 minutes. It is stored in mp3 format which will download and play on most computers (Winamp should play it. So too should Audacity). The download time may be long (many minutes) over a slow connection and most computers won't begin to play the song until it has downloaded completely. But IT IS WORTH WAITING FOR. Click here to begin the mp3 download. You can also listen to a short mp3 extract of around 1 minute. Haggerdash are David Logan, Davy Lees and Billy Stewart.
