The band is made up of members of the community who get together to make and perform music. The personnel range from children as young as 9 to adults in their 60's and come from all walks of life. The musical repertoire includes numerous items, which range from classical music, popular music, easy listening, TV/film themes and military marches .

The band meets and plays regularly in and around Carluke at gala days, open-air events and in concerts. There is also a junior band.
