Handspun are two spinning groups which meet together every Wednesday. They are a really friendly group and enjoy keeping this craft alive. The group is led by Marilyn Caddell and covers spinning, weaving, feltmaking and the use of natural dyes to create wonderful unique garments, home furnishings and many other things. Beginners are very welcome. The group enjoys meeting and exchanging ideas. Hopefully the picture shown will give an idea of the variaty of vibrant colours achieved, as well as the range of natural fleece colours.
The jacket featured was made from handspun yarns that are then hand woven. the larger wall hanging was hand-looped on hessian from handspun yarn, The smaller hanging was woven on a peg loom and decorated with seashells. Other garments wer knitted on crocheted handspun.
