The Landsberg Ensemble originated in Biggar 15 years ago and consists of anything from 2 to 6 players. For many years we had a central core of 3 players performing as a trio and increasing in numbers when the music suited. One of our core members moved to Italy last year and still returns to play! We like to give young people the opportunity to perform and in the past young performers have joined our group before moving on to pastures new. Our music is varied, we play anything from Baroque through to Classical and Romantic and Joplin. We perform annually within Biggar and also at functions (weddings and concerts) in the surrounding area and Peebles.

The 2nd Movement of the Haydn Trio was recorded live during a performance of the entire work in an evening of music which took place in Biggar in 2004. This concert also included performers from Flauti Cantando and items from other local musicians. We particulaly like this work as it suited our core ensemble and it is a cheerful work, and fun to play with its two bright outer movements contrasting with a slower central movement.
