Elizabeth writes - 'During a period of concentrated study of cockerels, both in observation of these at a particularly beautiful free-running yard in Hampshire, drawing and painting, this image appeared suddenly one day and I quickly painted it in watercolour with limited pre-drawing. Once begun, the painting developed on its own. Such spontaneity often holds the key to capturing the essence of a subject. The painting measures 10.5ins x 14.5ins. It has been much sought after but I have retained it. But copies of the painting are available in print and greetings-card form.'
