Write a Poem for the Festive Season!

We do make one or two conditions. Take a moment to read them and then get to work, even if you've never written a poem before!

Who can Contribute?

YOU ! Whoever you are - just as long as you live or work in the Clyde Valley .

There's no age limit. All that we ask is that if you are a young person (under the age of 16) and send in a poem, you also tell us your age.
First Line

Your poem must start with one of the following lines. You can choose which first line you want to use. The alternatives are:-

a) Farewell, goodbye, adieu. Another year,

b) Aroon' the world 'Auld Lang Syne', or A' roon the world 'Auld Lang Syne',

c) Santa Claus was busy,
Length Your poem should have at least 4 lines and not more than 100 lines.
We need Your name, a contact address and telephone number along with your poem. We'll publish only your name (and your age if under 16) alongside your poem. You can remain anonymous if you wish. In that case you should also supply an assumed name and we will publish that instead of your real name.
Format Send your poem in a commonly-used text format.
Deadlines and Publication Dates

Send it whenever it's ready but it must be received not later than midnight, 23rd December 2006. Depending on how many we receive, they all will be published on www.clydevalley.net sometime between 25th December and 31st December 2006 and stay on the website for at least one month afterwards.

Email Your Poem To poems@clydevalley.net
Quantity We will put on to the website a poem from everyone who sends one in, but we will only publish one poem per person. If you submit more than one poem, only the first one received will be published.
Quality Your poem will not be published if we consider that it is insulting or obscene or offensive. Our judgment of this will be final. Other than that there are no restrictions on style or sentiment or 'quality'. The more variety the better.
Editing We will not check or alter your spelling or grammar.
Copyright We will acknowledge copyright to the author of each poem we publish.
Correspondence We will not enter into any correspondence with anyone about any aspect of this festive showcase.
Prizes No prizes! Just fun - and the chance to be creative and share your thoughts in poetry on www.clydevalley.net.
