Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes

The band is made up of members of the community who get together to make and perform music. The personnel range from children as young as 9 to adults in their 60's and come from all walks of life. The musical repertoire includes numerous items, which range from classical music, popular music, easy listening, TV/film themes and military marches .

The band meets and practises every Sunday and Wednesday in Carluke Welfare Hall in Sandy Road and plays in and around Carluke at gala days, open-air events and in concerts. There is also a junior band. All ages and abilities welcome. Tuition given.

Chapelton Folk Club

Meets in the Bully Inn, Quarter, Tuesdays 8.30 till 11.00. For almost thirty years it has been host to almost everyone who is anyone on the folk scene....and artists are welcomed by a knowledgable, informed and friendly audience who ask only to be entertained. All types of acoustic music - traditional, contemporary, blues, country etc.. are in evidence over the course of the year performed by a wide variety of artists from as far afield as America, Australia and Stonehouse. So if the style of music is not to your taste one week it is a safe bet that the music on offer the next week will be.

The music starts at 8:30 and visitors and musicians are always welcome. Entry is £5 for non members - £3 for members.

East Kilbride Folk Club Meets every Monday 7.30pm--10.30pm at The Arts Centre, Old Coach Road, East Kilbride (Tel 01355 261000). Acoustic sessions with Open Stage 3 or 4 times a year. Guest Artists are booked approx. twice a year for ticketed event in Theatre Area. Silverburn Folk Club The club meets every Wednesday, 7.30pm till 11pm, the Silverburn Hotel, High Street, Newarthill. An acoustic club run on an "open mic" basis. Everyone welcome. Entry FREE.
