The Assembly Players

The Assembly Players is a trio comprising accordeon, violin and piano who have been playing together for over thirteen years. They divide their time between playing for Scottish Ceilidh Dance and English Country dance.

As a Ceilidh dance band, they provide strong rhythmic music with exciting variations; and for Ceilidh dancing they have a dedicated Caller whose job is to keep events running smoothly, make sure all on the floor are au fait with the dances, and to introduce a wide range of suitable dances in addition to the usual half dozen! They have issued to considerable acclaim a Ceilidh CD containing all the usual favourites.

When playing for English Country Dance, the band takes a strongly classical approach to the music, and uses exmporization to provide truly amazing variations on the themes. They have played widely in England, Europe and the USA, and have issued many CDs which are used and enjoyed all over the world.

Lyssie Graham

She sings because she enjoys it. She first sang in local clubs as a teenager then had no involvement with folk music until her daughters encouraged her to join a song group, Now she will sing as long as anyone will listen, and even if they won’t! She likes most folk music and sings traditional, contemporary, funny – whatever strikes a chord (sorry!) but finds many of her songs are dirges. Hey – she's Scottish!

Peter Nardini

Since the early 1980s I have written and performed my own songs and have released four albums to date. My single 'A Think You're Great' was given a lot of airplay at the time of its release. It was the title track of an album of songs, mostly topical and humerous, which were written for the Radio Scotland satirical programme 'Naked Radio'. My second album, 'Is There Anybody Out There?' released in 1986 featured mainly political songs. The third album, 'Screams and Kisses', was the first released in CD format and my new album, 'Rain Din' contains 16 new compositions featuring myself on vocals, guitar and harmonica.
